Our mission is to ensure all Montgomery County, NC citizens have stable housing regardless of economic status.
Individuals in our community with housing insecurities are our valued Neighbors.
The Bible classifies a neighbor as anyone in need of your love and help, regardless of their background, beliefs, or relationship to you. This includes strangers, enemies, friends, and fellow believers, with the central command being to love your neighbor as yourself. Jesus's parable of the Good Samaritan, for example, demonstrates that a neighbor is defined not by proximity, but by the act of showing mercy to those in need, breaking down societal and religious barriers.
Doubled - When our Neighbor and their children, to avoid living unsheltered, move into the home of another family. Living doubled creates stress on the resources of the homeowner. Space becomes overcrowded with kids sleeping on the floor.
Couch Surfing - When our Neighbor does not know how much longer he can stay or where he will sleep next. Our Neighbor is literally at the mercy of the next friend or relative who might allow them to shower, share a meal, or sleep on a couch or floor.
Pending Eviction - Where our Neighbor who is already housing burdened, loses a job, has a serious illness, is no longer able to meet their housing cost. Many of our Neighbors who are renting do not know the devastating impact on their efforts to be rehoused and will hold on to housing until they are forced out.
Unsheltered Homelessness - When our Neighbors and their children have exhausted all other options and are sleeping in their car, tent, shed, or an abandoned building. Are you a Neighbor with housing insecurity?
